wretched abomination
IMDb's description of a 1-out-of-10 as "awful" does not do moviegoers justice when describing the botched abortion that is this film. This film is so bad it actually looks like someone tried to halt the project only for it to rear its ugly head eventually anyway. One example is the fact that the majority of a movie is a flashback which is supposed to explain the savage event that happens in the intro however the movie abruptly ends without ever returning from the flashback AND without ever explaining what happened in the first minute of the film. The camera work and editing are both sloppy as is what passes for direction. These detractions pale in comparison, though, to the story/script or lack thereof. Nothing is explained or makes any sort of sense and the characters seem to act completely completely randomly. Ex: The husband's brother is a Christian convert who spends all day painting pictures of Mary and yet frequents whorehouses. The husband wants a strong wife to work with him on the boat but for some reason (anyone's guess) marries this cute tiny little girl and spends the rest of the movie complaining about how useless she is. Meanwhile the grandma is nice and takes her daughter-in-law's side for the first half of the movie only to abruptly do an about-face and beat her daughter-in-law and tie her to the floor for the latter half of the film.
