Not a masterpiece at all.
I wouldn't call Suomen Hauskin Mies (Laugh or Die) a masterpiece like another reviewer stated. It's just an average movie that is easy to watch, but nothing mindblowing here. First of all I really doubt that prisoners of war would have such an easy life like it's portrayed in this movie. And when I say easy I don't mean having food, because there is a lack of it, but more the way they just can move around like it pleases them, talking back to your guards etc. All those little things are just unimaginable and make it that you don't have the right emotions when watching a story like this one normally. The acting isn't bad, far from that, but the story just didn't caught my attention like I was expecting. This movie is nothing special to me, but that's my opinion.
A masterpiece of it's own
An absolute masterpiece if you get used to the language, I personally love the unusual language. The movie is historically accurate and depicts the absurdity of life the right way. It as everything, it's tragic, funny, thrilling,dramatic and pulls you right in, touches your soul. So many complex characters and the acting is top notch . This is one of the most underrated movies I have ever seen. For me It goes into my top 10 right next to Shawshank Redemption,Twelve Angry Men.. It has what makes movies important, it teaches or reminds you about morals and ethics, about understanding and shows you what we all have in common . Again I love it , namaste!
