I think you like her
George (Robert Strasser) saves the life of a young girl, Megan (Melissa Jordan) against the direct orders of Wallace (Randy Manning) getting locked out of safety. The story then picks up six years later as the two of them eke out survival on an isolated farm...that is until Lily (Maggie Coerver Soto) shows up bringing havoc and disrupting their life style. George wants to stay put on the farm while Megan grows adventuresome. This was a slow moving zombie film. Imagine "Maggie" with no star power. Zombies are infrequent. I think "Sounds of Silence" sounds more poetic than "Sound of Nothing." Too bad it was already taken. The film dialogue was very dry, void of any humor, poorly scripted and Melissa Jordan was not too convincing in her role. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.
Another indie zombie bore
Another day, another zombie movie made on an indie budget. This one's about a father and his daughter hiding out at a farm from redneck yokels and the threat of the living dead, but as with many of these similarly-themed indies, the zombies are in short supply and those that do appear act really over the top. Most of the story is about the main characters hooking up with some paramilitary types for some low key adventures. This is a particularly slow example of the genre, lacking in decent content.
Nothing Special
Six years after a mysterious infection has devastated humanity a former soldier and his surrogate struggle to survive against the infected and other survivors . One day a lone female staggers in to their sanctuary Stop me if you've heard this one before ... "Can you stop right there Theo I've heard it before umpteen times" Okay fair enough. There's not much to add to SOUND OF NOTHING. To be blunt there's little originality on show here. That said director Chris Grega does at least concentrate on the human elements of the story involving character dynamics. Also to be fair the story isn't overdone with zombie action and if anything it's humans with no recourse to the law any prospective survivors have to worry about. He also makes the best of desolate urban landscapes which is no mean feat considering the budget is minimal The downside is that you're constantly reminded of every single zombie ilk horror film ever made with a climax ripped off from 28 DAYS LATER without the style of Boyle. There's another spanner in the works and that is the cast are no more than adequate , but the pivotal role of Megan is played by an actress called Melissa Jordan whose only credited role according to the IMDb is in this film. She gives a dreadfully wooden performance and it's no surprise she didn't get offered anymore roles.
