Kunjananthante Kada (2013) Reviews
Simple yet beautiful movie !!!
Kunjananthante Kada is a very simple, yet wonderful movie. The story is simple but have a great relevance in this times. Mammootty plays the protagonist 'Kunjananthan' with ease and lives as that character; a very different and calm mammootty that we cannot see in much movies. The other major pluses are obviously the sound mixing from Mr.Resul Pookutty and one can see the cinematography also is very special; the movie has got many heart pleasing visuals through out it.(also some symbolic sparks including one scene in the climax, just loved it :P) Overall a good movie that has good standards. Not for entertainment alone, but gives the audience something to think about. I will give an 8 plus for this movie !!!
This is a portrayal of one man's nostalgia and obsession and his struggle with the changing world around him with which he cannot identify or blend.
An excellent movie with an awesome script. The movie is set in a beautiful village in Malabar. The cast cannot be more apt. Mammooty is at his finest best. The other main characters are played by Siddique, Balachandra Menon, SalimKumar, and Nyla. The sound mixing is excellent{ by Resul Pookutty}.This movie is not for those who prefer fast paced sequences. There are no out of the world events. It is a must watch for those who like simple movies detailing on human emotions. The focus is on a group of common people and their lives. This is a portrayal of one man's nostalgia and obsession and his struggle with the changing world around him with which he cannot identify or blend.

There are very few dialogs in this over-smart drama about a grocery store owner. It talks about his attachment to the store and how it takes a toll on his life. The screenplay is very dull and with the help of inappropriate lighting, the output directly falls into darkness. The story is simple & has some potential, although the plot selflessly concentrates on Kunjanathan's outlook of things. Mammootty is fine, so is the supporting cast. With the second half mainly concerning about land encroachment & how it affects roadside local shops, it further induces boredom. I, to be honest, stopped paying attention till the climax, which pretended to be conclusive. But, it leaves the viewers hanging on to what must have happened for the rather happy ending. A disastrously implied film. Also, to raise the drama, a death is introduced uselessly. BOTTOM LINE: Not recommended!
