The Story Continues...
I know that most people say that this series is really bad but I think that is because most people are afraid to admit that they actually like something aimed to people of all ages, including children. These film are some of the best ever made. In chapter 2, the human pets we see what happens in Med evil England. When the war is over and the nolifier piece is found Josh, Erwin 1138, and their new found friend Azabeth become human pets. I think it must have took quite a bit of talent to build the sets for this chapter and I respect that very much. I'd have to say this is the worst of the whole series but it was still really good. More cliff hangers.
Fun movies, dumb, but fun
If you go into this movie knowing what you're going to get out of it, it can easily be enjoyable. I first saw this with an old girlfriend by somehow stumbling upon it on the hallmark channel or something like that. We immediately died laughing because it was so cheesy and just...ridiculous. A little over a year later i saw this film and "josh kirby: trapped on toyland" on DVD for like 2.99, so i had to grab them just because i figured it be funny to watch with some friends, or having smoking a blunt. I have to admit, i started to actually enjoy them haha. I'm pretty easy going when it comes to movies and i liked the cheesy adventures of josh kirby. It was just a fun movie, stupid as hell, but fun. Plus Jennifer Burns was in it and i developed a massive crush on her, even though sometimes her acting is so goofy it hurts. Oh well, she's beautiful and i would love to go through time fighting evil do-ers with her. Overall its really a fun series of movies when you just want to relax and watch something fun. Just don't watch it thinking that it's going to be well done, because it isn't haha. It will bring out the kid in you though! PS: I actually ended up buying the other four DvDs off amazon :D
Cheesy fun with a Land of the Giants twist
THE HUMAN PETS is the second in the six-film JOSH KIRBY series, following on directly from series debut PLANET OF THE DINO-KNIGHTS. That story ended on a cliffhanger of sorts, and this one carries straight on. It begins back in the medieval world and has a cool battle between cheesily-animated dinosaurs which is worth a watch alone for any B-movie lovers among us. There's a rescue attempt copied from ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES and lots of low-rent hijinks and overacting. Around the halfway mark, the writer gets bored of this scenario and, perhaps sensing his target audience's brief attention spans, shifts the action to an alien world where a giant and extremely creepy-looking baby wreaks havoc with our miniature-sized heroes. Yep, it's another LAND OF THE GIANTS-type adventure, fairly amusing and funny in places, and completely cheesy, of course.
