Among other things, you will hear about a hilarious yet touching true story involving his friend's severely disabled brother, plus Jim's traditional pet peeves - religion & idiots.
Jim Jefferies Alcoholocaust (2010) Reviews
Brilliant comedy on many subjects
I laughed through every second of it. To be fair, I am not in any of the groups mocked by him since I am a white European atheist heterosexual middle class healthy young man. I had to pause the show because I was laughing too hard multiple times. Jim is brilliantly funny throughout the show, being my favorite comedian at storytelling. He also has a few random funny bits, but the stories make the show. I enjoy his comedy a lot, it's amazing how funny he can be even when he is spontaneous, like on his podcast Talking' S**t (which I also strongly recommend). I watched this with all my friends, multiple times and enjoyed it both sober and drunk. I couldn't recommend it more.
Sarcasm, sarcasm, sarcasm, I just can't get enough of it.
One thing is clear about a show with Jim Jefferies, it's not for everybody. If you can't take a joke or don't like sarcasm as humor then you should just not watch his shows. I can already hear women say that he bashes women all the time, and that he doesn't love women etc..., but the truth is that Jim Jefferies just has that kinda humor that just not everybody gets and I'm pretty sure he hasn't anything against women. He probably has something against religion, like I do, so by that you could be really offended if you're one of those lunatics believing in a God, because I'm pretty sure he believes every word he says about religion. And I applaud that, it takes some balls to openly criticize religion in these times of you can laugh about everything except religion. This was my fifth show I saw from Jim and I could just binge watching all his shows again. People that don't think this is funny are just people I don't want to hang out with, because at one point they will bore me to death. Jim Jefferies for president!
Rare Gold!
I stumbled upon Jim through youtube and I was surprised I hadn't seen him before. He delivers his politically incorrect repertoire with finesse. If he offends you as the viewer it says a lot more about you than Jim. He definitely pushes boundaries but they are boundaries worth pushing in a world where being politically correct has gotten out of control. His jokes are arguably the most side splitting I have ever seen in a comedian as he carefully says what everyone (well mostly the guys) are thinking. Finally someone who tells it like it is and breaks down boundaries of sex, race and religion which have become a cancer on our society. Jim is the breath of fresh air that the entire world needs to wake up and smell the coffee!! Thank God (pardon the pun) there's finally a comedian out there with some real courage!!
Jim Jefferies just lost himself another female fan
I was really excited to see this as I watched Legit religiously. However it was a struggle to even sit through the performance, particularly through statements such as "women are all c**ts," and "lesbians have no sense of humour," delivered aggressively, like it wasn't tongue in cheek, and he really meant it. I was disappointed not only because it was offensive to me, but because it is lazy comedy writing. The target audience is clearly young men to the exclusion of everyone else. Jim Jefferies just lost himself another female fan, not that he cares, since (based solely on this performance) he seems to hate women anyway.
I was enjoying it for the first forty minutes.
I was enjoying this for the first forty minutes - I have generally enjoyed the small clips of Jim Jeffries that I've seen - he can be quite edgy at times, but often also makes valid points behind the comedy. And at the start, Alcoholocaust was very entertaining. But then about half way through, it came to the point where he touched upon the Holocaust and Auschwitz. When he came to the lines about the Auschwitz tourist board and "ideas to boost tourism", it took two jokes before I turned off the DVD player and walked out. For me, his lines of "tourism suggestions", "Yes, we do have the tallest tower of second hand shoes" and "We have ovens big enough to cook 400 pizzas at once" just take things way too far, and I was deeply disappointed and offended. So as Steve Hughes says regarding political correctness and being offended: "So what? Be offended. Nothing happens!", this is true. Does this mean that I would watch Jim Jeffries again? Sadly not. Such a shame that he would go over the top with such disregard and ignorance of what still makes many of us shudder today.
