• Not too bad

  Decent, but often used plot. The acting was pretty good especially the antagonist Tess playing both good and evil. It was not perfect and I'd like to bring up a few points that irritated me. Is that how you break the news to the new widow, over the phone? "Hello, your husbands been killed"? You'll notice many times Tess is just like MacGyver. It's nice that Tess overheard them say the name of the agency at exactly the right moment in the parking lot. Tess was a pro when it came to computer hacking so fast. Why do most movies have a tendency to cast women who look so similar? Long haired brunettes. Although attractive, couldn't one be a blonde or have short hair to tell them apart easier? The decorations in the house made it look like a fancy hotel, not a home. Every room was designed from a model home catalog. Why would the special needs teenager care if he saw them at the other house? A cord in the puddle doesn't spark like that. I like how the cop acts like a judge and says they can't kick Tess out. Wouldn't Maria be calling cops while she's driving to the house after Tess kidnapped her son? I would. Despite my complaints it was entertaining.

  What a great villain. Tess is so "perfect" for Mariah's family. In her secret psycho moments, she is a lot like Peyton from Hand That Rocks the Cradle and Norman Bates with her darker self that writes letters to her dead mother. After all, she has to avenge her parents' death because in her mind, Mariah is responsible for their deaths. Writing Quality/Character Development: Pretty good. Tess is quite sneaky and good at making things look accidental. The shots where she is alone, and we see her in all her wonderful psychosis, are intriguingly shot with strange screechy music and shots that billow and deflate cyclically. Values: The security of a marriage even in the face of temptation. A little boy wanting to expose the truth. Content (sex, language & violence): One scene of the beginnings of sex. No language. Some violence that makes you grab your own wrist (you'll see what I mean), and a couple of quick deaths. Scare Factor/Suspense: What is scary are the lengths Tess goes to to ruin the mom's life. The baloney in this one is that the cops say their hands are tied because Tess has "tenants rights", unwilling to listen to the couples' concerns. Outside of that, at least we have a husband who believes in his wife when she says that Tess is dangerous. And, we get a happy ending with this one.

• Hand that Rocks the Cradle formula

  A girl poses as caregiver to avenge her fathers death. It's the same formula as The Hand that Rocks the Cradle. It is fairly interesting and it works. The difference here is an autistic child. Other than that it's not too great. Ok for one watch but not a must see.
