how 2 playwrights went from the words on the page to their first production.
Excellent short film for anyone who wants to write a play with or without a collaborator or a theater lover who wants to know more about how a play goes from the page to the stage. The playwrights discuss their writing process and speak honestly about the issues that came up while working on the play. After the play is written, the next even harder step is getting it produced. The playwrights tell how they did this in a very short time by contacting a college theater director with a budget who was willing to produce the play and enter it in a national contest which lead to the playwrights placing second in the David Mark Cohen National Playwriting Award. The film includes the process of rehearsals leading to opening night. There are revealing interviews with the playwrights, director and one of the real life "characters" who attended a performance.
