A crack-addicted prostitute and a nun get stuck on an elevator. One is going to, one is coming from, a meeting with a killer. In a seedy hotel, battered prostitute Leslie flees the scene of a crime only to get trapped on the elevator with young Sister Amelia. When no one responds to their cries for help, they reluctantly turn to each other. Leslie starts smoking crack and goes from standoffish, to giddy, to ferociously hostile at the drop of a hat. The unlucky sister learns more than she wants about the violent crime Leslie has just perpetrated. Tensions mount as Leslie pries into Sister Amelia's private affairs and they discover a shared secret that binds them together in a macabre and surreal plot involving a talking handbag and a Catholic bishop. It's a dark, hallucinatory ride with powerful performances and supernatural thrills that goes straight to the heart of a girl on her way to Hell.

A Worthy and Intriguing Psychological Thriller
An intriguing (albeit, low budget) creepy psychological thriller, with very good acting and direction. This movie kept me interested thru out. Much of the movie is spent with two characters, on obvious opposite sides of the tracks, discussing life views, stuck inside an elevator. Small flashbacks, indicate the events that lead both characters to that particular building, and the violence/foul play that had preceded the meeting between them. I had no difficulty following the non linear script and the pieces did fall together by the end. There is very little "horror" or action in this movie. The violence is discussed and insinuated but not really shown. Since psychological thrillers are my favorite type of film, I liked this movie and recommend it for other psychological thriller fans. Please be aware that the subject matter is for mature audiences and has negative religious undertones.
A nun and a prostitute trapped in a lift. Sounds like a joke, but it's a real film...
DIRTY HABIT is a cheap, religious-themed thriller with touches of horror here and there. The film has a memorable premise which sees a drug addict prostitute and a holier-than-thou nun trapped in a broken down elevator together, but the execution is uninteresting and a real letdown. A murder sub-plot involves endless flashbacks that remove the film's sense of claustrophobia and the characters are largely unconvincing. It's a film that gets less and less interesting as it goes on, ending up a bore.
