I got this on a double feature DVD with a biopic of Evel Knievel for $2. It's about a bunch of hookers who operate out of a van and seduce truckers, and a journalist hot for a story with a CB radio who tries to shut down their operations. I thought it'd be some laughable C-grade obscure 70's porn I could put on at parties and such, but there's only about, ooh, 5% sex in this. I watched the first 10 minutes or so, and after I had got my fill of long shots of a bunch of people standing around vans drinking & talking, I put it on 2x speed setting and watched the rest of the film that way. Even with the sex scenes, and at twice the speed, it was still pretty slow & boring. Somehow, though, I strangely feel as if my dollar was justified. Hence the 2 rating.

Found this little bit of soft-core raunch on a 'double-feature' DVD in one of those "Anything in the place is a buck" stores. It was paired up with "Cheerleader's Beach Party" (also 1978), which seemed somewhat appropriate. My one-line summary was, of course, tongue-in-cheek. If you're looking for something more than mild titillation, you'd be better off spending your money elsewhere. The package says this is rated "R"; obviously that's a 1978 "R" because I've seen more explicit stuff on regular broadcast TV lately. There is an ample supply of (naked) female breasts and butts, and some simulated sex scenes, but that's about it. Nothing to be seen below the waistline. Plot, such as it is, deals with a group of three 'pavement princesses' and their pimp working out of two custom vans. The preferred clientèle are 18-wheel truck drivers, and of course there's a nemesis in the form of an inept backwater newspaper man who overhears some of their coded jargon over a CB radio and decides that morality must prevail. Slightly amusing byplay between the newspaperman and his sidekick/assistant, and there is a bit of a twist at the end. However, in the long run this is the kind of film that one watches only out of curiosity (or if one wants to know what was considered risqué during the Carter administration), and has little or no replay value.

  • Subtlety entertaining

Trucker movies are always going to be for me. Before "Smokey and the Bandit", this movie, "C.B. Hustlers" goes out to a whole new level. Knowing C.B. jargon takes times to learn. For those local newshounds, they would have to be ahead of themselves(only the owner) who is more advanced in the jargon. It's not just the truckers who have the C.B., a group of road entertainment who accompany the truckers during the long haul. They ride in vans. Though small, vans are considered one of the big trucks on the open road. They carry more people than an automobile. Plus, you can have more fun in them. The "hustlers" know their clients very well. And the news hounds will try their best to shut them down. Since they are mobile, I don't think they will ever slow down, but they are thinking about other venues. This movie was very adult in nature, yet it was very entertaining as well. This movie is made for truckers and other travelers. A big keeper in my book. 2 out of 5 stars

This is definitely a "made for Drive-Ins" movie from the 70s. Not a lot of sex, but the girls are ok and the breasts are nice. It's pretty boring overall, but just keep your remote handy to fast forwarded to the sex scenes. It won't take long.

  • Lame-o sex comedy set in the world of truckers and trucking

    Leofwine_draca2017-02-11

C.B. HUSTLERS is a cheap skin flick from the tail-end of the 1970s. It's a softcore comedy set in the world of truckers and trucking, in which a trio of hookers run their operation out of a van and utilise the local trucking routes in their search for clientele. Ostensibly there's a plot of sorts when a journalist hears of their nefarious activities and vows to bring them to book, but that only takes up ten minutes or so of the actual running time. For the rest of the film this is all about sex, typically in the back of a truck. The sex scenes prove that the trio of actresses are willing to show off their bodies but have zero acting ability, and the men are even worse. If this was ever considered titillating then I don't know how. Janus Blythe, Catherine Barkley, and Uschi Digard are the starlets involved and only the latter makes a real impact thanks to her outlandish proportions used so memorably by Russ Meyer back in the day. As for the so-called "comedy", don't get me started...
