Our Lady Of Manaoag
Four people cross paths in this Filipino film entitled "Birhen Ng Manaoag" (English Translation: Our Lady of Manaoag) after their respective lives have been touched by the Blessed Virgin Mary, who has made apparitions at a Manaoaog, located in Pangasinan,Philippines.Miracles have been happening ever since especially for people who have made pilgrimage to the place. It stars Jodi Sta. Maria, Eddie Garcia, Joyce Jimenez, Albert Martinez, Cherry Pie Picache, Jean Garcia and Bianca King. Ana makes a pilgrimage at Manaoag with her daughter to make a documentary about the miracles of the Blessed Virgin Mary that have happened in it.She asks the help of a seminarian Marco, who wasn't willing to provide help after apparently he has lost faith in the Lord when her mother died. Then,we get to meet a school teacher named Linda, who apparently is suffering from cancer and has found out that she has only a few months to live. She asks her husband to prepare for he passing by doing a few things but things become extremely difficult in the process.Added to that, the viewers are introduced to Marie, who discovered that she is pregnant.Being only teen-ager,her mother disowns her and her boyfriend ignores her. In the process, they all meet together at Manaoag and the Blessed Mother touched their lives with each on getting renewed in spirit and full of hope and optimism. No question that Filipino films cannot avoid melodrama for its intended audience. But nevertheless, it provided the viewer a nice story about Our Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag including its history back in the 17th century and an exploration of the place wherein many miracles have transpired as well as people who were touched by the Blessed Virgin Mary just like the four main characters. No question that this is not fiction for the Roman Catholic Church has recognized it officially recognized and proclaimed that the Lady of the Rosary of Manaoag had granted favors and blessings through her devotees through the centuries.
